Just tried this place out last night because it's so close to where I live and wow I am impressed! This might be one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver. The soup isn't that oily compared to some other places and the noodles don't stick together. The pho was delicious but I recommend the grilled pork with vermicelli and spring roll. I normally don't like pork but this place grills and seasons it nicely. Also the spring rolls are only $5 here and they give you 3 big ones! Cheaper than many other overpriced restaurants. Service is meh but most Asian restaurants aren't really about being fussy and uptight about service. You get good cheap food and that's all you need really. Also the food came out pretty fast so that's a plus as well

After checking out a sample sale, we were ready to eat a very, very late lunch. I had Pho Edmonds saved to check out so we decided to drop in for a visit. It's in the same plaza that houses a Serbian Bakery, Rustic Bread Bakery and Jovo the Butcher.

We dropped in on a Sunday (around 4:30pm). There was no one there when we first arrived but it got randomly busy soon after. Service is no frills and they never came back to refill our tea. At least they take credit cards.

The menu is small and split into appetizers, pho, vermicelli, rice, pho Edmonds specials and drinks.

    - Herbs - came with basil, bean sprouts and lemon wedges.
    - Bun bo hue (#24) ($9.75) - I like that this came with homemade chicken balls. Those were the best things in this bowl. There was also beef, Vietnamese ham, onions and green onions. The broth was a little different than your usual BBH broth but it was waaaaay too salty.
    - Mi bo kho (#30A) ($9.50) - interestingly, there's three options (with yellow/egg noodles, rice or banh mi). We went with option A. The broth smelled heavenly with a punch of star anise. Portions of beef chunks were generous (about 6 pieces) although the carrots weren't tender.

If I were to come back, I'd try their banh mi and grilled meat rice dishes (#40 to #43).

'Pho Edmonds' was chosen as our venue for lunch recently, after a couple hours shopping stores and markets on Edmonds and a nearby area of Kingsway.  We arrived shortly after the restaurant had opened (about 11:10 am), and were able to find parking in front, within the Plaza's small-sized parking lot.  Dining there was a first-time experience for us.

We were greeted upon entering, and once settled at a table, brought menus and tall glasses of cold water.  When our server was beckoned to return, we sought a little assistance in making our final decision on what pho to order, and placed our order.  The dishes arrived from kitchen to our table in a rather nice, timely sequence.

What we ordered and shared (threesome):  dishes as per listings in the in-house menu.

    -  Appetizers:  #1 - Cha Gio - Spring Roll (3)  -- #7 - Canh Ga Chien - Deep Fried Chicken Wing (6 pcs) -- #8 -  Mue Chien - Calamari.
    -  Pho:  #9 - House Special Mixed Beef w/Rice Noodle Soup (large).
    -  House Specials:  #47 - Wonton Soup (6 pcs).

Food presentations:  very plain & simple - especially the appetizers - which lacked even 'hints' of garnishes for some added colour against their all-white plates.  All presentations not particularly appealing, or very "exciting" to the senses when brought to our table.

Food preparations 'varied':  Soups quite 'solidly ok' - stocks flavourful, ingredients plentiful and tender - overall, the two (very different) soups were tasty, and enjoyed.  Appetizers just 'barely ok' - spring rolls very greasy, highly-overcooked, ingredients dry -- calamari - texture a touch tough, dish very bland in flavour & taste -- chicken wings - a touch overcooked, tasty, but meat a little dry.

The small venue, ambiance, and service worked fine for me (us), but I had anticipated, and definitely hoped for a more, and better effort on the restaurant's part re: their food presentations and preparations.

Vietnamese restaurants have been getting really expensive these days.  Pho costed only 5.50 a bowl not long ago.  (You'd be surprised how cheap rice noodle, bean sprouts, carrots and cucumber are and you can make the same dishes at home for a fraction of the price) This place is one of the less expensive places in the lower mainland probably because of the location.

The restaurant is clean and relatively tidy inside.  Two flat screen TV's provide entertaining and there is a counter at the front with a cash register accepting plastic payment.

Our food came quickly and It was delicious.  My only complaint was that the $4.75 sub that I got to go was not up to par with some of the other places on Kingsway.  The bread was not crispy and the taste / toppings were not there.

However I am giving 3 stars only because the customer service was crappy.  The man who I presume is the owner or the owner's wife did not seem happy to see us come in.  He took our order with no emotion and gave me a staredown.  I thought perhaps he was just having a bad day but when I paid (with 15% tip) and got ready to leave, I didn't even get a thank-you or farewell from him.

The wife was cheery and friendly though.

I rarely crave pho, but when the rain starts and when I feel under the weather, a big bowl of pho is exactly what I need.  I saw this place on yelp, new with fairly good reviews.  The place was dead only two other people in the restaurant eating.  The menu was typical Vietnamese restaurant menu with pho, vermicelli, rice dishes so on.       I ordered a bowl a pho with rare beef.   Noddles were ok the broth was good.  Overall, Pho was ok nothing special to me.  But as a warning I'm not a big soup person.  I generally order rice dishes or vermicelli.
I came back again several weeks after my first visit, this time to tried the vermicelli with spring roll and BBq pork.  This was more my go to when I go for Vietnamese food.  It was really good, very flavorful and filling.  For $10 you can't beat it.  I will be back.
